Sean Hannity was complaining today that California is paying $1,000,000 per person to perform heart transplants on prisoners serving life sentences.

Well, what do you expect? Guys like Hannity made damn sure we didn’t get single-payer health care when Hillary Clinton offered it to us on a silver platter, so people about to die from heart disease have no choice. They have to commit serious crimes in order to get thrown in prison just to save their lives!

Look, the state owes it to you one way or another. Health care is a human right; everyone should be able to get free heart transplants because otherwise no one can afford them except rich people. Unfortunately, we have reached the point at which people have to become criminals just to enforce their right to health care.

The solution is not to prohibit prisoners from getting heart transplants, because that would be cruel and unusual punishment.

The solution is to pass universal, single-payer, cradle-to-grave health coverage so that EVERYONE, not just prisoners, can get proper medical attention.
